Thank Rep Sheldon Johnson for His Years of Service
We're sad to see Sheldon go; he has been our State Representative for District 67B for 9 terms or 18 great years. He was first elected in 2000. In the last 3 elections he ran un-opposed in the primaries and won the elections with about 70% of the votes or better.
Rep Sheldon Johnson has championed many causes and people over his 18 years. Just this last session alone he sponsored bills for Vetrans, Park & Rec areas including Pig's Eye Regional Park, Wakan Tipi Center, and Battle Creek, peace officer training in de-escalation techniques, infrastructure funding, and funding for beneficial organizations such as Progressive Center for Education and Economic Development and GROW-IT Center.
He has done it all in his quite, un-assuming, get-the-job-done approach. He always has time for his constituents and deals with us all in the same friendly, open manner.
His list of accomplishments is long and there are too many to list them all here -- but you can see a short list HERE.
Learn more about Sheldon Johnson:
Dear Friends & Neighbors,
I'm a lifelong St. Paulite and proud East Sider. Part of that pride comes from the fact that we've had an outstanding team of representatives at the Minnesota state capitol. A few years ago, when I was a legislative staff at the MN House of Representatives, I took some time off to care for my father after his health declined rapidly, couldn’t fully recover, and was forced to take early retirement. He lost his income as well as his health care coverage. I became the sole provider for my parents and siblings. It was a difficult time for us.
When State Representative Sheldon Johnson learned about it, he personally reached out to me and was instrumental in helping my family navigate the system to ensure my father received the necessary medical coverage and financial assistance. There’s the usual constituency work that elected representatives should be doing, but what Sheldon did shows the personal kindness and passion he brings to the job he held for 18 years.
Though I am sad to hear that my friend and representative Sheldon will retire at the end of this legislative session, I also know that if anyone deserved a little rest to be with his family, it’s Sheldon.
So thank you, Sheldon, for your many years of service to the people of Minnesota and the good neighbors of our House District 67B. You’ve done us proud. You’ve been a great champion for our neighborhoods and our district, and I hope you will continue to support those who continue the fight for the values you long stood for.
